From the editor...As we begin a new year, change is upon us. We would like to give our thanks to Don Baklund and Debbie Moege for the strong leadership they have provided Pack 268. As Cubmaster and Committee Chair, they have filled the two required and most important positions in the Pack for several years. Now both are ready to move on with their older scouts. The time to fill these positions is right now, before they step down – the Pack and dens cannot continue meeting if these positions remain open. Please, please consider making a one or two year commitment to the Pack. How about getting a friend to job-share with you! Did you know that over one-third of our parents have taken a leadership role in the pack? Please join us!!

On newsletter business, every issue is chock-full and contains most of the information you need to stay connected. Please contact me if you have any questions, comments or suggestions to make the newsletter better.

I wish all of you healthy, happy New Year. Maribeth Simmons, Newsletter Editor

News and Updates

More on Pack Positions: It is critical for someone to volunteer to be Committee Chair now. Pack Recharter Training is Tuesday, Jan 15th from 6 p.m.- 7 p.m. In order for Pack 268 to continue to exist, our new Committee Chair must attend the Pack Recharter Training and represent our Pack on Tuesday.   Without a Committee Chair and a Cubmaster, Pack 268 ceases to exist - we cannot re-charter without those 2 positions filled.  We need someone to represent the pack at Recharter Training!! Contact Don or Debbie ASAP if you will attend.

Polar Camp – packets will be available to each family on January 15 at Pinewood Derby Registration.

Scout Credits – Updated Scout Credits will be available on January 15 at the Pinewood Derby Registration. Todd Weigand has been working hard to update the credits - Thank you, Todd!

Scout Credits for Webelos - The Pack Committee has decided that 2007-8 2nd year Webelos may carry their scout credits over to Boy Scouts if they are committed to a Troop. Contact your Den Leader if you have questions.

Friends of Scouting – pledges are due to Amy Gelhorn by January 31. Please help our pack meet our goal! If we do, the Pack will receive free progress toward rank awards and pinewood derby cars.

Timberwolves Scout Night – Fun at Target Center, 2/1 and 3/2! Check this webpage for details: http://www.nba.com/media/timberwolves/group_scout_nights_08.pdf

Prairie Lakes District – Character Counts Dinner – Friday, February 1st at Brackett’s Crossing.

5:30pm Social Hour, 7:00pm Dinner. Contact Don Baklund for more information.

Roller Skating and Toys for Tots Review – Wow! We completely filled a Toys-for-Tots collection box with our donations of Teen gifts – thank you to all the Pack families for their generous giving. Roller Skating was a fun night – 35 scout families attended. Lots of parents got out and skated! Only one injury, to yours truly, but just a sprained wrist. A convenient excuse to get out of shoveling all the snow we have had!

Salvation Army Bell Ringing Review – It was a very cold day, but the scouts did a great job ringing and greeting shoppers – nice job boys! And thank you to parents for assisting.

Cubmaster and Pack Chairperson – the Committee is working very hard to fill these positions ASAP – they are vital to the continuation of the Pack.

Summer Camp – There are still openings – check with Liz Tremblay!
