November Meeting Marks the End of Assistant Cub Master
Don’s Reign As Scouts Enjoy the Raingutter Regatta
(Donning) the sailor hat for one last time, Don Baklund officiated his last meeting as our Assistant Cub Master. Don has also enjoyed and treasured being the Cub Master, but now he looks forward to mentoring the new leader(s). To date, we have not received any word of any interested parties. After the awards were handed out, Kurt Richards asked parents of the younger dens to stay behind so he could explain the significance of how important it is for the Pack to have steady leadership. The bottom line is that without an official Cub Master, the Pack will no longer be able to meet. We have to fill this position, if we want to continue on as a pack after February! Kurt stated that Don, along with other committee leaders strive to mentor the new and upcoming leaders. By working with the current leaders to “shadow” their position, the new leaders will be able to step into their position with confidence and feel more comfortable with their responsibilities once the current leaders’ term ends. We were excited to see some parents step up to the plate and take some open positions or commit to filling positions that will soon expire!
After
the awards presentation, the Scouts enjoyed launching and racing their
creations in the long water gutters. There was excitement in the air, as they
lined up behind the gutters with their boats and straws. Once they blew their
boat down the gutter to “race” against those in the pack, then they quickly
gathered behind the line to do it again and again!
Concessions were sold to raise money for fees for the Pack’s new storage facility. In a very orderly fashion, the scouts and their dens were photographed to wrap up the night!

We appreciate everyone’s participation in Cub Scouts! As a parent, you work with your son to get his uniform ready for events, attend Pack and Den events, and work on projects and electives at home. As Den leaders, you work on getting events and meetings together for your children and come up with ideas to help your scouts earn badges and meet requirements all by February. Committee members work together to make big events come off smoothly. We all do our part to make the scouts’ experience memorable!!!
The position of the Cubmaster needs to be filled if we want to continue as a Pack. Could you consider doing this if you had one or even two assistants? There can be both men or women stepping into this position! In this November-December Scouting magazine, there was a Den mother who served for 43 years! Could you spare 2 years???

News:
Plan ahead for future events! Mark your calendars for Polar Camp and Tubing! Secure a spot for Summer Camp for your scout!
