Carnival & Recruiting!April Pack Meeting

Friday, April 4

Cherry View Gyms

6:30 p.m.

Our annual Carnival and Recruiting Night is always a scout favorite! Dens will provide two fun, carnival-style games for scouts, siblings and prospective scouts to enjoy. There will be favorites like Hockey, Jousting and Cowboy Golf, as well as a few new surprises! Boys, be sure to talk to your friends and invite them to come with their families to have fun and learn more about scouting. Pack Meeting begins at 6:30 with Awards and Flag Ceremony (Den 89) and a skit (Den 89), with the Carnival beginning at 7:00pm.

Pizza and Pop will be available for purchase.

 

 

Lakeville Clean Up Day

Saturday, April 19 **Please note date change from original calendar**

8:45am

Lakeville Clean Up Day - Pack 268 will participate in this great service opportunity to better our community. Dens will meet at 8:45am at Lakeville’s Central Maintenance Facility, on Cedar across from Cub Foods, to get routes, t-shirts, vests and trash bags. Lunch will be served there at noon after the clean-up. Be sure to wear protective gloves and dress for the weather! Also bring an ice cream bucket to carry to pick up small trash items.

**Please let your den leader know ASAP if you will be attending**

 

 

District Pinewood Derby

Saturday, April 19

8:30am – 1:00pm - Race begins at 10:00am

McGuire Middle School, Holyoke Avenue, Lakeville

 

Our Pack 4 scouts competing in the race: Brett Branscombe, Brady Richards, Eric Baklund, and

Chris Earles.

 

Four scouts qualified for the show car competition: Conrad Holzemer, Zach Swedberg, Sam McPherson and Daniel Lunke.

 

Congratulations and Good Luck at District!!

 

 

Parent Participation Meeting

Thursday, May 1

6:30pm, Teacher’s Lounge

All Saints School, Holyoke Avenue

 

All leaders and parents are invited to attend the monthly Parent Participation meetings. Please join us!! Thank you to our hosts: Troy Lock on February 28 and Brian VanDyke on March 27!

 

 

Rank Advancement and Family Camp Out

Friday, May 30

Cleary Lake Reserve - Oak Grove Campsite

7:00 p.m.

Pack Rank Advancement and Campout will be at Cleary Lake Reserve, Oak Grove Campsite; Pack meeting will begin at 7:00pm, but families can arrive as early at 3pm.

**Register with your den leader by May 1 -- $5 per family**

 

·         Rank Advancement ceremony begins at 7:00pm

·         Families on their own for dinner; best option is to eat before arriving

·         Families asked to bring a snack to share for Friday evening

·         Pancake Breakfast will be served in the morning by Dens 1 & 2

·         Other possible activities include: hiking, stargazing, group games

·         Families need to check out of the campsite by 1:00pm.

 

 

In order for the Pack to have camp-outs, we must have a BALOO-trained adult in attendance. This two-part outdoors training is 6:30pm on April 3 and May 1, just in time for Rank Advancement. Please contact Don Baklund if you can attend; 952-953-0535.

 

 

 

 

 

 

News and Updates

 

 

 

v      Snow Tubing – about 150 scouts, parents and siblings had a great night on the hill! Thank you to Don Baklund and Kurt Richards for handling the tickets and providing hot chocolate.

 

v      Cubstruction was fantastic! Thank you to Den 4 for leading this fun event. 

 

v      Remember: Our Pack has qualified for 2007 Centennial Quality Unit – Congratulations! All scouts and leaders are invited to come to the Scout Shop to purchase the patch – wear it proudly on your sleeve!

 

v      Scout Days with the Minnesota Twins – 6 dates to choose from. Order early for best seat! Ticket includes Lower level reserved outfield seat (Home Run Porch), Pre-game parade, hot dog/drink, and Twins T-shirt.  Contact your den leader for a registration flyer.

 

v      Did you know? Gander Mountain gives scouts 10% off of purchases!

 

v      Monday, April 14th is Boy Scouts of America - Culver’s Night! Tell them you are with Scouts and 15% of the sale will go to BSA.

 

v      Flower Sales – All orders should be submitted at this time. Pick up will be May 3. More info coming soon.

 

v      Thank you to Deon Lausche for taking over leadership of Den 1!

 

v      Only 2 designs were submitted for the new T-shirt design –thank you to Eric Baklund and Cody Simmons for your great ideas! A decision has not been made yet, but we hope to have T-shirts printed before Rank Advancement.

             

                                                Leader’s Corner

 

  • Roundtable: This is a great opportunity for leaders to network, find resources, and stay informed. 2nd Tuesday of every month at 7pm. Crossroads Church, 17671 Glacier Way.

 

  • Awards Deadline: May 1 for Rank Advancement

 

  • Parent Participation Meeting6:30pm on Thursday, May 1 at All Saints.

 

  • Training:          April 3/May 1: BALOO Training
  •                         April 12: University of Scouting                                                                                   

 

  • BALOO Training: The pack needs a BALOO-trained adult -- Fast! We cannot have Pack camp-outs with a BALOO-trained adult attending. Two-part training is 6:30pm on April 3 and May 1, just in time for Rank Advancement. Please contact Don Baklund if you can attend; 952-953-0535.
